5th National Game Nepal

National Sports Council (NSC) will be hosting the 5th National Game, which is going to be held after 11 years, in the grandeur manner.

Organising a press meet Friday, member secretary of NSC said that regional selections almost have finished except Boxing, Chess, Wushu and Cricket. Only ten days remains in the beginning of the national game, which will see around 3,500 players from all over the nation, participate in the 32 games events.

The players will compete for 289 gold and silvers medals and 410 bronze medals. The three departmental teams (Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force) would also take part in the event. Shrestha informed that NSC had invited President of the nation to inaugurate the event and Prime Minister would close the ceremony. "The inaugural and closing ceremony will last for around two and half hour," said member secretary.
The national games will also be taken as the qualifiers for the upcoming 11th South Asian Games to be held in Bangladesh next year, Shrestha added. At the press meet NSC also unveiled the theme of the event, "Peace, Development, Goodwill and Unity. For the event around 250 million is demanded from the government and so far NSC already has received Rs. 100 million in two installments. "The remaining 150 million also will be released within three days," Shrestha said. "The unspent money from Rs. 250 million will be invested in the building of the infrastructure of the sports."
